ART THERAPY

I have learned a lot about being an art therapist in Texas. After getting my ATR-BC while working in New Mexico, I returned to Texas and found that the state didn’t recognize that credential.

I unfortunately let it lapse. Once I ended up in private practice in 2018, I realized what a mistake I had made. I had to pay the fee, get back in touch with my supervisor from New Mexico, and retest! I learned my lesson the hard way so you don’t have to.

I now offer supervision for art therapists looking to earn their ATR. I am also an approved supervisor in Texas for LPC-Associates. I believe this gives me an edge on how to supervise art therapists in Texas.

Art therapy is my original passion. After getting my Master’s degree in Art Therapy and Counseling, I worked with at-risk groups. This allowed me to use trauma-focused therapy and behavioral approaches, in addition to offering my clients enrichment through art therapy.
